Longest Line Of Cakes – Guinness World Record

Congratulations to BBC Radio Gloucester for breaking the Guinness World Record for achieving the longest line of cakes measuring 885.6 metres for Children In Need. Asking local bakeries and individuals to bake and donate cupcakes in order to place them in one long continuous line to beat the current record of 607 metres previously held by a town in Columbia.

Our pledge for this year’s Children in Need, was to donate 3,600 4 Cavity Cupcake Packs to house the 14,392 cakes baked for the challenge.

After the event the cakes did not go to waste. Our 4 Cavity Cupcake Packs came in to action and all professionally made cakes were packed up and sold at a huge cake sale the following day and all cakes donated by home bakers were packed and sent to homeless charities to either sell on or hand out at various shelters.

Jo Durrant, Organiser of the BBC Gloucestershire event had the following to say ‘This is just a note to say a big THANK YOU for your help with our world record attempt for BBC Children In Need. Your participation was much appreciated and really made a difference. The good news is we broke the record with a line of cakes measuring 885.6 metres. In addition the challenge raised almost £1,000 from donations for Children In Need.’

The record is now live on the Guinness site: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/12000/longest-line-of-cakes
